JEE Advanced eligibility

Top 2.5 lakh JEE Main rankers qualify for JEE Advanced — the sole pathway to 23 IITs. Session 1 (January) result determines Advanced eligibility.

Two sessions, one best score

NTA conducts Session 1 (January) and Session 2 (April). Your best percentile across both sessions is used for final ranking and counselling.

Eligibility

Who can appear for JEE Main 2026?

  • Passed Class 12 (or appearing) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  • No age limit (removed from 2019 onwards)
  • Maximum 3 consecutive attempts across JEE Main years
  • 75% in Class 12 (or top 20 percentile) — relaxed for SC/ST candidates
